What is self-care?
August 18th, 2020

The phrase “self-care” is used a lot these days but what exactly is it? Good question! Self-care encompasses what we can do for ourselves to help our minds and bodies feel at their very best. It’s more than doctor or dentist appointments although those are very, very important. Some people call self-care a “time out” to take time for yourself when you need rest, tranquility, and rejuvenation. Many times, we get busy and don’t take the time to be good to ourselves because we’re more focused on being there for others. Self-care is really important for you AND the people in your life. Some people like some pampering for self-care like getting a haircut, their nails done, a massage, etc. That’s good too. But it could be as easy as literally stopping and smelling the roses. Or putting your cell phone and selfies aside to enjoy nature and really be in the moment. It’s about listening to your mind and body and finding consistent ways to be good to yourself. It’s about setting aside time every day to do what you love whether it’s reading, doing a hobby, exercising, enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee, or listening to your favorite songs. It all helps us maintain better life balance and inner peace. Make it part of your daily routine today!
